EXETER NEWS: Improved rail links look likely between Exeter and London
New InterCity express trains between Exeter and London look likely following a £7 billion investment programme in south west transport, announced in the Budget.
Although thin on detail, the announcement spoke of “improved railway journey times” when the new franchise for the region begins in 2019.
With the current twice-daily flights between Exeter airport and London City and promised improvements to the A303, the East Devon area has become more ‘connected’ with London and south east England than ever before.
The Budget also introduced the Help To Buy ISA, a new savings mechanism which will allow first time buyers – critical to the health of the housing market – to receive a 25 per cent ‘top up’ when they save for a deposit on a home.
