SALES NEWS: Housing market set to remain steady through spring

04/05/16

Two new indices show the housing market showing steady price rises.

Land Registry figures, based on most sales completed in the three months to March, shows house prices rising at 6.7 per cent across the whole country.

Meanwhile the latest Nationwide house price index, compiled from mortgage data up to late April, shows house prices rising at 4.9 per cent per year with the typical home now costing £202,436.

Indices of this kind are a useful guide as to the general direction of the market but remember there are many local variations – even from street to street – and only estate agents ‘on the ground’ have the most accurate information on prices.
