SALES NEWS: Kerb appeal attracts buyers and helps achieve a better price

A new survey shows just how important it is to present a property for sale in the most appealing, clean and well-kept fashion – and how it can help push up the asking price, too.  

Barclays Bank surveyed 1,000 would-be buyers and discovered that just over a third said they would not even walk inside to continue with a viewing if the outside of the property appeared unkempt.  

Almost half of homebuyers said they would put in an offer lower than the asking price if a garden, driveway or front of the house appeared seriously untidy – even if the interior of the property turned out to be in good condition and well-presented.  

On the other hand a well-manicured garden, neatly painted front with polished fittings on the front door and windows were voted as features which gave potential buyers a ‘feel good’ mood about a property before even stepping inside.
