SALES NEWS: South west price rises “the strongest in England”
Homes on sale across the south west saw stronger price rises in November than any other region of England, according to a survey by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
RICS members – often regarded as the most senior estate agents and surveyors – do not set out specific price rises in their surveys, but instead measure a balance of those who see price rises against those who see price falls or no change.
Around 40 per cent more RICS members in the south west saw price rises than falls in November, despite the start of the pre-Christmas slowdown in buying and selling.
The RICS says this month’s changes in stamp duty could generate a five per cent surge in the number of homes bought and sold next year – a promising start to the 2015 market.
