SALES NEWS: THREE MORE SIGNS OF A STRENGTHENING HOUSING MARKET
Three key indicators released in recent days suggest the housing market, which is already relatively strong, will become even more buoyant during the autumn.
Firstly the Bank of England says the relative shortage of properties compared to the number of buyers suggests prices will rise between now and Christmas.
Secondly the Building Societies’ Association says the number of mortgages issued in August, the most recent data available, was the highest for that month since 2008. The association expects that growth to be repeated in October.
Thirdly, the Nationwide says house prices rose half a per cent in September alone – and like the Bank of England it believes high demand will push up prices further.
As we have noted recently across Exeter and East Devon, we’re in a vendors’ market and the next few weeks are a good time for people to decide to sell.
